大阿卡纳
The classic tarot deck is divided into twenty-two "Major Arcana" cards and fifty-six "Minor Arcana" or suit cards, which include the sixteen Court cards. The twenty-two Major cards are regarded, in readings, as representing powerful archetypes or abstract symbols that stand for the more universal and profound aspects of our lives. Arthur Waite talked in his seminal book The Pictorial Key to the Tarot about the "higher intention" of the Major Arcana and these cards are usually seen as going beyond the rather day-to-day issues of past, present and future actions to address the underlying meaning and purpose of life. We don't number our Major Arcana on the actual cards.
经典的塔罗牌一般被分为22张大阿卡纳和56张小阿卡纳，或者把16张宫廷牌分在一组。在解读中，大阿卡纳一般用强大的原型（应该指具象的事物，译者按）或抽象的符号表现，它们可以代表我们生活中更普遍更深刻的方面。作家韦特曾经在他的一本被叫做《通往塔罗的图像钥匙》的书中讲到，大阿卡纳的更高含义在于超越我们日常关于过去、现在和未来的争论，把着眼点放在生命的根本意义和目的上。我们不应该把大阿卡纳算作一种实体卡片。
