Scorpio Horoscope for April 2011
By Susan Miller
This month your work and health will receive top billing. As a Scorpio, you tend to get a little obsessed about everything you do, but I always see that proclivity of yours as a big plus. That's surely one of your secrets for success!
My mother, who taught me astrology, used to talk about the thoroughness of Scorpio, and how precise this sign can be. My mother had firsthand experience - my loving father was a Scorpio (with Cancer rising) - and, when alive, he certainly was a perfectionist. He owned one of New York City's best fancy food stores, with imported items from Italy and some of the best fresh produce on the planet. Each day he would go to Hunt's Point at 4:00 AM to buy the fruits and vegetables, and then return to look at his day's purchases. He would wrap the avocados in blankets and bring them upstairs to us on cold nights so they would ripen gently. He carefully examined every leaf of spinach for perfection, discarding many stems that didn't measure up. The strawberries were arranged in each of his little boxes, just so, and every Comice pear was wrapped in delicate purple tissue. I remember him examining the grapes and holding a pair of manicure scissors, correcting the stem here and there, to improve on nature's perfection.
My mother used to say, "Virgo gets the credit for being detailed and discerning, an honor they deserve, but the secret is, Scorpio is equally thorough. Their ruler, Pluto, makes them examine everything, down to every pore, digging down as far as they can go to examine things, and to get things right." Dear Scorpio, now that laser beam focus of yours will put you far ahead of the rest.
A highly unusual buildup of planets in Aries will keep you very busy from the moment the month takes off. In just one little slice of the horoscope - one-twelfth of the pie - you have six out of ten heavenly bodies gathering for an Aries party: Mercury (news), Mars (action), Jupiter (good fortune and luck), Uranus (unpredictable events), the Sun (authority), and new moon on April 3 (opportunity).
These little planets have assembled to give Uranus his official welcome to Aries, a place Uranus took up last month on March 11. He is set to stay until 2019, so this is big news in astrological circles. Uranus has not been in Aries since 1927 to 1935. This means his presence in your sixth house is new, as you've never experienced it before, unless you are more than 75 years old, but even if you ARE, back then you were likely a very little tot.
These planets in Aries, the little revelers that they are, will be so happy to see each other that they will keep their Aries party going into May too, with the exception of the Sun and new moon, who will be needed on assignment in Taurus. The champagne is flowing and all the little planets will be asking, where is Venus? How can you have a party without the planet of fun and love here? Venus plans to attend, too - only she will arrive fashionably late, that's all. Venus will be on assignment in Pisces (where she is working on improving Scorpio's love life), but Venus will arrive to the Aries celebration on April 21, and stay until May 15. Almost all the planets, with the exception of Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto, will be attending at some point in the month!
You might be thinking, well, Mercury moves quickly. How can Mercury stay in any one place very long? He has ants in his pants, and he is never more than 27.5 degree from the Sun. Won't he move on to Taurus with the Sun and new moon at month's end? Actually, no. Mercury is retrograde in Aries now, from March 30 to April 23, so even fast-moving Mercury has found a way to linger at the Aries party. These little tipsy planets will be enjoying the champagne, so they aren't planning to go anywhere soon.
For you, dear Scorpio, this means your sixth house of work assignments is brilliantly lit, brighter than Times Square. There will be so many planets in Aries taking up residence there! The sixth house rules your work assignments, among other things, so this is where the action in your life will be.
Now by "work" I am not referring to your status or fame, but rather the actual work that comes across your desk on a day-to-day basis. It seems as though you will get quite a number of assignments now to keep you busy, and it seems you will enjoy the work you do. It doesn't matter if you are self-employed or work for others, you'll be like Lucy and Ethel in the chocolate factory (an episode from the old "I Love Lucy" TV show), trying to keep up with the overflowing assembly line of work to do.
If you are self-employed, this is especially good news, for your phone will ring with lots of orders for your goods and services. While you won't get a promotion, you may get some excellent experience that you can parlay into a better job later. In this global economy, it's always good to have work, especially interesting work!
While Mercury is retrograde in your work sector (until April 23), you may hear from a former co-worker, friend, or boss that wants to give you work. You might want to be back in contact with as many old contacts as you can muster - there is gold in your database! When given an assignment, be sure you thoroughly understand it, and if you have any questions, ask, for you don't want to have to backtrack to redo things later. The propensity for going off in the wrong direction will be strong in the first three weeks.
The fact that Jupiter is in this workaday house and is the natural ruler of your solar second house of income is a good indication that you will be paid well for your services. You won't likely have "busy work" that pays "crumbs." Make no mistake - you can make a bundle under this trend, at least in April and May!
Aries is associated with sports, so that industry might figure very prominently in your days and weeks ahead. Or, you might be working in new technology, since so many planets in Aries may indicate that the work you will do could be something few people have had any experience with before this - it's new!
Aries is associated with entrepreneurial efforts, too, so if you've always wanted to have your own business, this could be the perfect month to try to get clients and open your own doors. Don't make any final decisions until after Mercury is finished retrograding on April 23. (Actually, I feel April 27 will be a better day to begin normal activities, so be patient. May is an even better time, particularly if you want to go into business with a partner. The month of May will be enchanting for so many reasons!)
There will be all sorts of crosscurrents in the air, however, because like any gathering of people, some of the little planets will be gracious and supportive of each another, and others will be egging for a food fight.
Let's talk about the very best aspect first. I love that this new moon on April 3 is conjunct Jupiter. This tells me that the scope of the projects you work on will be big, and that indeed there will be money to be made. You won't have difficulty in bringing in business with Jupiter conjunct the moon - that's for sure.
Jupiter will meet with the Sun, too, on April 6, and on this day, you are likely to get an offer for something highly prestigious. The Sun is the natural ruler of your solar tenth house of fame and honors. Watch the calls you get on your better day, April 5. The Sun and Jupiter will meet on April 6, but throughout that day, the moon will be void, which means the moon will be cloistered and not speaking to any of the planets. This means that talks stall and often come to nothing. The day prior, when the energy of this aspect is still building, will be one of your best of the month - circle April 5!
At the new moon, Saturn will oppose the Sun, so I will admit you may find some of the work to be very complex or detailed. It may require long hours of concentration or attention to intricate detail. Be prepared to burn the midnight oil, but you will be well compensated for your effort. If you have to give a price, bid on the high side.
You may also find that you have a political situation to contend with in the office, when others become a bit jealous of the better assignments that are streaming your way. If you are self-employed, you won't have this problem, but those in an office might. I underscore the word "might" - there is only a small chance this would happen, but with Saturn in the house of secret enemies and aiming his cannons at the Sun and moon, as your friend, I feel I should mention this possibility to you.
On April 3, there is another aspect that concerns me. Mars will conjoin Uranus, which is a hot, angry, explosive aspect. These two are meeting at the critical one-degree, which could be a bit alarming. Watch for emotions to spill over in the office when a co-worker or subordinate will be overtired, cranky, and disrespectful to you. Try not to be drawn into the fray if you can help it - it won't be easy. Mars rules Aries, and so many of the planets are in Aries that this aspect is given extra emphasis. Uranus always brings unexpected developments when taunted by another planet, and this time it happens to be the warrior, Mars.
If you work with fuel or combustible elements, you must make safety a priority during the first week of April. Having said all this, of course, with Uranus you never know - you could have just the opposite effect, good news, say, when new business walks through the door! This month's aspects are really testing my mettle as your best friend and astrologer!
Amid these rough aspects comes one really sweet one - April 11 - when Mercury will meet with Jupiter in conjunction. Although news will be wonderful on this day, you cannot make any solid deals yet, but you can have some lively talks that leave you feeling optimistic. Mercury and Jupiter will meet again on May 11, and in May, Mercury will not be retrograde. You will get a second chance, and it will be a far better one than one you get in April!
After all this, it is not surprising that on the full moon, April 17, you will likely be feeling a bit tired and worn out. Watch your health at this time, for you may be run down by mid-month.
The planets in Aries will also be urging you to get active. The sixth house, where all the attention will be this month, also rules your body and the measures you take to stay healthy.
Aries is a highly competitive, physical sign, associated with athletes and competition. You might want to train for a marathon or simply get in better shape by working with a trainer. With Mars conjunct Uranus, however, don't overdo or test your limits, for if you are reckless, you could get an injury. Aries rules the head, so if your sport requires a helmet, make sure you wear one.
Aside from these concerns, you have the best possible opportunity here to become fit and healthy, and to lose weight, too. I have found through years of studying charts that having Jupiter in the sixth house allows one to get on the best eating program, one that causes your weight to regulate and slim down. I also found you need a new moon - and you have it!
You have two rulers, Mars and Pluto. Mars will be linking with earth-shattering Uranus on April 3, and Pluto will be arguing with Mars on April 11. As you see, both your rulers are about to create a ruckus and get themselves into trouble with other planets. It's like your two governing planets will just be aching for a fight. On April 3 or 11, you'll be tempted to prove a dare wrong - don't.
If you have to sign a contract, hold off. Pluto is in your contractual house, and will be in hard angle to all the plants in Aries. Mercury is retrograde, so you'll not like the terms of the contract anyway. You'll need to put off signing, but you might want to consider April 27 if you have to sign soon. If you can, wait and choose instead May 11 - you'll see next month, I will be talking about that day quite a bit! It's golden!
Romantically, if you are single, you'll have a slight advantage. Your fifth house of new love will hold Venus, the planet of love, from March 27 to April 21. That's the best place for Venus to be to engender love. With Mercury retrograde, you may decide to see an old love again if you get a call or an email. See how you feel, and if you want to get together for dinner, what do you have to lose?
Neptune is making his appearanc Pisces, but his stay will only be for four months, from April 4 to August 4. Think of this period as a preview of what's to come in full force next year. Neptune will return to Aquarius in August, where he's been since 1998, but will later again visit Pisces, and your house of true love, and at that time will stay a staggering 14 years!
Having Neptune in your house of true love and in perfect angle to your Sun will be divine. This planet will expand your capacity for true romance, and increase the glamour in your life quite a bit. You've never hosted Neptune here, as Neptune's not been in Pisces since 1847 to 1862. Wow! Just wait until Neptune in Pisces starts making aspects to other planets! That is when you will see the power of this planet and its magical effect on your love life.
For now, enjoy Venus in Pisces through April 21, the perfect place for Venus to be to get her little fleet of cherubs, complete with their little bows and arrows, working hard for you. Near the end of Venus' visit, April 19, the moon will be in Scorpio, and Neptune, signaling the Sun, will collaborate and turn out an evening of candy-cotton fog to create a magical setting. April 19 is due to be an elegant evening - enjoy it!
Your most romantic evenings, in all: April 1, 6, 9-11, 19, 20, 23, 27 and 28.
Summary
The longer, warmer days in the Northern Hemisphere are infusing you with lots energy and bounce. (Live in the Southern Hemisphere? It's time for crisp fall!) An entourage of planets including Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Jupiter, and the Sun will accompany the new moon on April 3. Venus will join this house late this month, and all planets will be in the enterprising, highly competitive sign of Aries. To have six - and later seven - heavenly bodies moving through one sector of the chart is extraordinary, and for you this portends luck in two areas: fitness / health and work projects.
In matters of health, as soon as the new moon arrives (April 3), decide to do something pro-active for your health. Join a gym, hire a trainer, try a new class, or simply treat yourself to new workout clothes and athletic shoes to motivate you. (After all, there are scores of mirrors at the gym!) You will have so many planets supporting you, your efforts should show reward in short order. Mars, the soldier planet, known to be stalwart and fearless, will be strong and give you spunk. If you want to start training for an athletic competition, such as a marathon or even the Olympics, this would be an ideal time to do so.
This is also a great time to chedule all routine health-related appointments, ranging from having your eyes checked and teeth polished, to having blood pressure, iron count, and other tests taken. If you decide to ramp up your workout routine, you'll be glad you saw your doctor first, as she can make recommendations that may not have occurred to you.
The planets stacking up in Aries will also help you get a competitive advantage at work. The sixth house, where all the activity will be focused in April and May, rules day-to-day work projects, and you are about to be the darling of the department manager, for you will be chosen for the projects your co-workers want, but which will ultimately go to you. The work you do will be very new, and bring you down a very different path, so there'll be a lot to learn.
If you work for others, but hoped to work for yourself, this energy, all focused on Aries, the leader of the zodiac, would give you the impetus to be your own boss and start a business. If you already have a business, a lot of new clients will come through the door, so plan on hiring more recruits to help you.
There will be stress, however, in that the planets in Aries will be in hard angle to Pluto, so reaching accord with certain financial people might prove to be difficult. If you have to sign papers, there will be clauses that will have to be changed before you'll be satisfied. You can get around obstacles, and you will have to be resourceful yet firm. If you can stretch talks out, you'll find others to be more open to compromise as you get closer to April 27, when your ruler, Pluto, will be friendly toward the Sun.
Romance will improve when you get a handle on all the work you'll be doing this month. Home is where the heart will be. In this month with too much to do and so little time, nights ordering in Chinese food and snuggling on the couch with your one-and-only may sound really good after a long day. If unattached, with Venus in Pisces, and Neptune there too (April 4 to August 4), you won't have to lift a finger to find love - love will find you. Best day for love, attached or single: April 19.
